The Nine-twelve and Nine-eleven require no long introduction. The shape is the most recognizable sports car on earth. Ferdinand Porsche introduced the new 901 body in Late 1963. It is the quintessential Porsche sports car which set the standard for cars today in 2009. Tracing lineage to early VWs: It began with the original aluminum 1600cc flat four boxer motor of the 1940’s used thru the 356 line. The most prized among collectors are the first 912 cars that were constructed in from September 1964 thru 1965. What makes early 912s so special is thier connection to the 356 'bath tub' noticably the "3 gauges" on the dash and the boxer four engine. To ultimate Porsche collectors like Jerry Seinfeld and others; the ’65 912 is a must have.

Few survive because of lack of rust protection. Of those remaining, many were modified and even updated in the 80’s and 90’s. A factory original ‘65 is rare sight. There is a consenus among respected collectors that an unmolested "stock" example is considerably more valuable than a modified one. The prices for the small number of remaining cars has skyrocketed in the past few years. This incredible vehicle has patina and character that no amount of money can ever recreate! It is original only once..

Built in second half of '65 she was sold new March 5, 1966 at Cotton Goff VW- Porsche of Buena Park, CA. and titled '66. Her original owner now deceased traded in a '62 Chevy Corvair Monza for a credit of $575 towards the hefty purchase price of $5102 to get one of the first 912s in the US. She was used sparingly for the past 44 years in Southern California. This is a once in a lifetime find. The value of provenance and originality can not be ignored. A lot of history accompanies this fine auto including the bill of sale and many dealer service receipts & of course black and gold California plates.. Odometer shows 42,888 miles which is possibly original as the records reflect that car was idle for some periods in over 40 years.

The car has aged gracefully like a fine wine. It has a nice patina that overflows with character.

Amazingly, The majority of the paint appears to be original. The car still looks exceptional especially considering her age. A few spot paints and touchups evident upon close inspection. As expected, it does have some chips, scratches, small dings(drivers door and front bumper w/trim) as well as some fading checking in areas etc. etc. The paint is wearing thin in some areas. These imperfections dont detract from the car's stock unrestored look.

She is beautiful from any angle.

The first License plates for the car. Proudly displayed "black and gold" front and rear.

Some old owner applied touch ups of stone chips etc. especially on hood although hard for camera to detect.

subtle shine and nice patina of the paint. if you look very carfully you can see where it is getting thin.

Porsche's cabin is stock with three black and green gauges. The bamboo color interior looks stock like it did in ’65 with some light wear.

The leatherette seats show very nicely as does the rest of the vintage interior.

carpet seems to be original showing normal use with exception of small section of carpet by door runner replaced.

The interior does have a few flaws and shows gentle wear and aging. tiny split in seam of drivers seat and 1" cover on dash top and carpet has normal wear.

Amazingly the rear seats look as if never sat in.

Driving the car everything comes naturally as it should. A simple turn of the key and the car comes to life. The car is surprisingly fast especially for a 912. Quick and nimble, a real joy to operate. Note: gauges while driving car.

Correct 1600cc engine number *743650* backed by its 5 speed trans is strong and smooth.

An added bonus with the 912 is simplicity, low maintenance cost and incredible gas mileage 30mpg (est.). Note: factory water shield below engine grill.

For added reliability car has electric fuel pump and pertronix ignition . mechanical fuel pump still in place.

The cars engine and undercarriage were detailed some years ago and the still look beautiful.

Headliner is original and shows its age as do the carpets with some minor stains and worns spots.

The four and a half inch chrome steel wheels shine and has godd set of hubcaps with painted crests. needs new tires to be fitted.

there are few spots that are barely noticable on vehicle where factory primer is peaking thru including top drivers door, deck lid, and roof as well as some of the edges.

Virgin nose. This 912 still retains it’s original style single slim battery and date coded 1965 spare wheel.

Factory equipment Blaupunkt AM-FM-SW radio will accompany car if one wishes to replace 70's vintage stereo in dash.

the chrome trim is original and some still has a subtle shine. rubbers are unchanged as well and new owner may choose to replace them and rechrome etc.

We have a couple of other short wheel base cars that will be coming to ebay soon but they are not at this level of originality and quality.

Only a handful of these genuine ’65 cars are still in existence. Cars of this pedigree almost never change hands especially on the open market. Most of them are in museums and private collections. She can be exhibited with pride in the survivor class in Porsche concour events, driven in ralleys or just enjoyed casually. Ready to provide faithful service for another 44 years.
